Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.
We are now open and we are starting to see patients with urgent dental problems as well as adapt to the new guidelines and protocols. We value personalized attention and long-term relationships with our clients. Our dental office offers comprehensive dental care. It is our goal to prevent oral health problems, and restore your mouth when they do happen. We also provide cosmetic dental work for those who want to change the look of their smile.
For those that have anxiety about their dental visits we also offer nitrous oxide sedation.

Dr. McCartney is very passionate about Dentistry and believes every patient deserves a healthy and beautiful smile. Dr. McCartney has completed extensive post-graduate training across North America under a number of world-renowned mentors in prosthodontics, occlusion, and implants. She enjoys using her skills and knowledge to help people smile again!
Dr. Judy received her DDS from the University of Western Ontario in 2009 and moved to Thunder Bay upon graduation. After two years as an associate dentist in Thunder Bay, Dr. McCartney purchased McCartney Dental in 2011. She completed and attained a certificate from the University of Toronto, faculty of dentistry in Dental Practice Management in 2019.
Dr. McCartney has fully embraced living in Northern Ontario and is happy to call Thunder Bay home. She enjoys getting to know her patients on a personal level and treating everyone like family. In her free time, Dr. McCartney enjoys running, sailing, curling, gardening, and travel.
Randi was born and raised in the city of Thunder Bay and has been an active RDH in the community for 6 going on 7 years now. Randi received her Dental Hygiene Diploma right here in Thunder Bay at Confederation College. She is regulated by the CDHO as a member of their College. Randi also belongs to the ODHA, TBDHS, and RDHU.
Randi loves what she does and it shows in her work and her positive attitude when she walks through the door each day. She is committed to ensuring each one of her patients is receiving the best possible oral health care and education related to their needs. She has the ability to demonstrate sensitivity, empathy, confidentiality and respect when speaking with her patients, peers and team members.
Randi always wants what is best for each of her patients so she is always keeping herself up to speed on the latest dental news and information to share with her patients. As a Registered Dental Hygienist, Randi committed to and expected to keep herself up to date by taking continuing education courses and by attending presentations offered either right here in our community or through online learning. Many presentations and CE courses are also graciously offered to us through McCartney Dental.
A tid bit about what Randi loves doing with her spare time when she is out of her scrubs. She loves meeting new people, the outdoors, camping, fishing, kayaking, mountain biking, golfing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Susan has been part of the dental profession for over 30 years. A graduate of the Confederation College Dental Assistant program and the Confederation College Dental Hygiene program, Susan is a member of the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, the Ontario Dental Hygiene association, the Canadian Dental Hygiene Association and Past President and active member of the Thunder Bay Dental Hygiene Society.
Susan strives to understand the needs of the client so to provide as much information as possible and help educate and work together with each client to achieve optimal health.
Working as a member of the oral health team, patients appreciate the attention to detail Susan gives them in a warm, caring and gentle manner.
Always striving and committed to life long learning and striving to enhance her skills, Susan is appreciative to McCartney Dental for encouraging and supporting many continuing education and growth opportunities professionally and personally.
Family is very important to Susan and she enjoys her summers at the lake or cheering the kids on at the hockey rink or at dance competitions.
My name is Erika and I am a registered Dental Hygienist. I am originally from Red Rock, ON and moved to Thunder Bay, ON when I was in elementary school.
I graduated the Dental Hygiene Program at Confederation College in the spring of 2018 where I was a student representative for the CDHA for 3 consecutive years. I am an active member with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, the Canadian Dental Hygiene Association, the Ontario Dental Hygiene association and the Thunder Bay Dental Hygiene Society.
I am a proud recipient of the Sue Raynak Pinnacle award which is awarded to a student who shows the most leadership qualities, compassion towards others and love for the dental field.
I am very passionate about dental hygiene and continuing education – it is important for me to learn as much as I can in order to best assist my patients in all things relating to oral health.
My goal as a hygienist is to ensure my patients are 100% informed and comfortable in the dental office, there is nothing more gratifying than educating patients and helping them to overcome any dental fears.
In my spare time you can find me enjoying the outdoors with my husband Taylor and our little yorkie-poo Ollie.
Hi my name is Bobbi and I was born and raised in Thunder Bay. I graduated from the Dental Assisting program at Confederation College and have been working in the dental field for over four years.
My goal is to provide the best patient care possible. I strive to achieve this goal by staying current with new guidelines, participating in continuing education courses, maintaining my ODAA membership yearly and consistently seeking new ways to improve patient comfort in the dental office.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends as well as staying active. My favourite activities include yoga, snowshoeing & kayaking.
My name is Rachel. I have lived in Thunder Bay my whole life. I graduated from the Dental Assisting program at Confederation College in 2017. I have a wide range of knowledge and interest in dental assisting. When I am not at work at McCartney Dental, I am outside with my fiance Trenton taking our 2 dogs on hikes and enjoying the beautiful scenery of Northwestern Ontario. I am excited to be a part of the team at McCartney Dental.
Diane was born and raised in the small beautiful community of Red Rock Ontario. Diane came to Thunder Bay in 1986 to attend the Dental Assisting program at Confederation College. Diane graduated from Dental Assisting in 1987 and has been a part of the Dental Profession for 28 years. Diane is a registered Dental Assistant Level 1 with The Ontario Dental Assistants Association. Diane began her career performing the duties of Dental Assistant and Dental Receptionist when needed. Eventually, Diane became a full time Dental Receptionist which she enjoys greatly. Diane was promoted to Office Manager with McCartney Dental in September of 2014. Diane has completed the Dental Management Secrets courses, part 1 and 2, and continues to expand her knowledge and skills of a Dental Office Manager thru continuing education.
Diane strives to understand the needs of each client to provide them with the warm, compassionate and caring customer service they deserve. Our clients are most important to Diane.
Diane enjoys her time at their summer camp with her husband and two boys. Diane is an avid dog lover with three dogs at home to keep her busy as well.
Laura was born and raised in Thunder Bay where she attended Confederation College receiving her Office Administrative Certificate. Laura has years of experience working for multiple practitioners, which include, Veterinarians, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Hydro Colon Therapist, and Body Talk Practitioner. Laura’s main focus has always been customer service. She is dedicated to providing warm, compassionate customer care.
Laura loves summertime, camping, going for long walks, and most of all spending time with her husband Emanuel and her 2 children Kyra (7) Nathan (6) and her 3 fur babies.
